On August 5, 2018 AWH was invited by our newly elected Barangay Captain Arnel Caisip along with Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Board members and other Barangay officials to attend the MRF meeting at the Sicat Barangay hall.
Most establishments in our barangay have been paying their monthly MRF dues.
The municipal dump truck has been picking up residual wastes at the MRF shed, which has been built with the donations by AWH and RIMM.
Many barangays (local communities/villages) do not comply with laws pertaining to separation/recycling of garbage and not polluting nearby waterways and groundwater with dumped garbage. AWH officials who are mostly members of Rotary Club of Multinational Manila (RIMM) therefore had met with local and City Health official in their community and had proposed a bi-weekly curb-side residual waste pickup brought to a roadside collection site designated by the community for monthly pick-up by the City’s dump truck. Project start-up, first year and creek clean-up financial assistance would be provided by RIMM in addition to the money collected from 12 commercial facilities including AWH.
However, the project started on the wrong foot with the residual waste collectors picking up all garbage despite the strict order of only picking up residual waste after the garbage had been separated by residents. The wrongly collected garbage immediately caused health concerns as it accumulated along the road designed for residual waste pickup only. AWH, RIMM members and local officials immediately made the garbage pickup rounds with garbage collectors to further educate the public and to assure that only residual waste was picked up. AWH and RIMM donated to build a roofed and dog-proof MRF (Material Recovery Facility) collection site for the temporary storage of residual waste because of public health and safety concerns.
This season (2017-18) subsequently to January group, AWH had March healing schedule open for everybody. Having healing sessions in the morning, some guests visited nearby elementary school and the poverty areas in the afternoon to extend their research to help.

In the morning of December 20, 2017, AWH staff attended children’s Christmas event of the Home for the 100th Sheep in Dasmarinas, Cavite, a relocation camp of formerly homeless Manila families.
AWH, as it does every year, donated sacks of rice, canned goods, used children’s clothing donated by its guests from Japan, assorted school supplies and firewood.
M’aam Kimiyo read a message of gratitude to AWH written by the daycare children on a colorful poster. Likewise Kaloi and Edna, who lead Home for the 100th Sheep, were appreciative of the donations for their pupils.
In the afternoon of December 20, 2017 AWH staff attended Children’s Christmas event held at barangay hall of Sicat, Alfonso, Cavite, Philippines.
There were more than 70 children who attend the event and sang Christmas songs. After singing they enjoyed spaghetti and ice cream donated by AWH. Captain Arevalo provided rice cake.
In his speech Captain Arevalo conveyed that he is appreciative to AWH for its community services over the years.
On November 29, 2017, being a member of LCPC (Local Council for Protection of Children) in Alfonso, Cavite, AWH staff attended Children’s Month Celebration at the Alfonso town plaza. The theme of the event was “Bata:” Iligtas sa Droga!” (Save our Children from Illegal Drugs).
The event was attended by 600 selected indigent elementary school children from Grade 1 to 4. They received a hygiene kit containing toothbrush, toothpaste, rubbing alcohol, antiseptic cologne, cotton ear bud, 2 pieces of soaps and towel. Their teachers will teach them how to use the items properly to maintain basic hygiene.
AWH, RIMM (Rotary International Multinational Manila) and RIMM president Betty Vicedo made financial contributions for the said hygiene kit while Sunny Enterprises donated 500 pieces of small natural coconut soaps. Gina of DSWD and the wife of Mayor Varias were appreciative for our kind donations. We received plaques of appreciation from the Municipality.
At the end of the event the Municipality of Alfonso treated all of the children with snacks from Jollibee and they enjoyed the entertainment from the Jollibee mascot.
On October 27, 2017 we attended Local Council for Protection of Children (LCPC) meeting at the municipal hall. Mayor Varias was supposed to preside over the meeting but he had to attend other functions.
AWH received an executive order from Mayor Varias & Dr. Manzo that Academy of World Healing Foundation is part of the composition of the Local Health Board of Alfonso, Cavite. During monthly meetings the Local Health Board will look into how we can improve the health situation in Alfonso.
Department of Education through councilor Carol requested AWH if we can donate 500 sets of hygiene kits for indigent elementary school pupils consisting of toothbrush, toothpaste, small towel, rubbing alcohol & cotton ear buds to be giving on November 29 as Children’s Day in Alfonso has been announced to be moved from December to November.
Since it is important to educate children to keep hygiene awareness as disease prevention, AWH told at the meeting that it would provide such kits. AWH asked its environmental friendly soap supplier to donate smaller version of soap for the purpose. The teachers have said that many young pupils get sick due to poor hygiene and they will teach them proper sanitation using our donated hygiene kits. RIMM (Rotary International Multinational Manila) can also partake its share in this worthy cause.
Update (November 10, 2017):
AWH staff went to DSWD office in Alfonso to give the donation of P15,000 (AWH & Rotary Club of Multinational Manila donated P5,000 each; Rotary Club President Betty donated P5,000) for the 500 sets of hygiene kits to be given to indigent primary school children during Children’s Day on Nov. 29, 2017. 500 small soaps which are a part of the hygiene kits was donated separately from AWH’s soap supplier.
On August 8, 2017 Academy of World Healing Foundation (AWH) handed 3rd quarter donation of P15,000 to Gina of DSWD (Department of Social Welfare Development) and witnessed by Alfonso Police Officer Janet, who is also a member of LCPC (Local Council for Protection of Children).
In the meantime, RIMM (Rotary International Multinational Manila) which works in conjunction with AWH also donated P10,000 to Gina to support the “Stop Sexual Abuse on Children” Program.

AWH relayed about the following suggestions we offered to them before:
Among the choices above Gina of DSWD said they are interested if we can assist financially in hiring a full time driver to take the para-teachers to the homes of the disabled children. We will discuss further for more perpetuated and practical aid.
AWH asked Dr. Manzo of municipal health department about our second P15,000 financial assistance to procure additional TB medicines. She said there is enough supply of TB medicines thus she does not need yet our second financial assistance. Instead she mentioned about the dire need of B6 supplement. She said B6 is good for pregnant women & people suffering from TB as well. There is no supply of B6 from the government. She added Vitamin C & Folic Acid are beneficial to these patients.
In conjunction with RIMM (Rotary International Multinational Manila), another Teenage Pregnancy Forum is planned in July at Lucushin National High School. The date will be set with Dr. Manzo.
Mayor Varias told everyone in the LCPC meeting that he was appreciative of the active involvement of AWH for the Alfonso community.
