LCPC Meeting in Poblacion II, Alfonso – Stop Sexual Abuse of Children

Gina of DSWD (Department of Social Welfare Development) Alfonso presided over the Local Council for Protection of Children (LCPC) meeting on January 30, 2017 at the Brgy. Hall of Poblacion II in Alfonso. Gina recapped LCPC activities in 2016. She enumerated the rights of a child  and plans to do related activities. She also relayed about children who got into conflict with the law and about charitable institutions who shelters these children. AWH representative Raymund Balicha announced during the meeting that in addition to quarterly funding of P15,000 to DSWD Alfonso, AWH is supporting on “Stop Sexual Abuse on Children” in conjunction with RIMM (Rotary International Multinational Manila) which will … Continue reading

2016 Alfonso Day Event

In addition to the P15,000 fourth quarter donation, AWH donated another P15,000 budgeted for this event for additional gift giving to 512 indigent children and an additional 60+ gifted children as determined by DSWD.  Each child received a backpack from the City and a water bottle from AWH that was individually gift wrapped by DSWD volunteers.

Automotive Electronic Technician

An auto electronic technician in Mendez, Tagaytay, has a living partner and 1 year old daughter. On electronic matters he often repairs the Mercedez Benz of AWH which runs on used cooking oil. One day he told that his baby girl underwent heart surgery through catheter which costed him almost a million pesos. The girl is all right now but he had to sell his shop. He now does repair jobs at his rent house. He is originally from Iloilo, Aklan and honest person. We wanted to assist his livelihood. Helping A Livelihood

We heard that a sewer in our barangay Sicat, who is a sister in law of our domestic worker, lost her sewing machine and had become out of job for a year. Her sawing machine was rental and the owner took it back from her. We sought for a good working second hand sawing machine and bought one for her. Since it was not informed to her, she was surprised when the sawing machine was given to her. She could not believe that she could have it with no payment attached. April 2016 LCPC Meeting at Luksuhin Barangay Hall

On April 18, 2016, the members of LCPC (Local Council for Protection of Children) along with barangay Luksuhin captain Cynthia and the councilors held a monthly meeting at the barangay hall of barangay Luksuhin, Alfonso, Cavite. Topics included analysis of children’s (0-17 years old) statistics collected in 2015 and the method of survey on the same statistics this year in barangay Luksuhin. Dra. Manzo, the municipal health director, stated that DOH (the Department of Health)  will begin distributing sub-dermal contraceptive implants if the Supreme Court removes the temporary restraining order, which may happen in August. PC Donation to Barangay Sicat

On April 4, 2016, AWH donated desktop computer set that included 15″ LCD Monitor, a keyboard and a mouse to barangay Sicat hall. Their old computer had been repetitively repaired but became no longer repairable. Barangay councilors received the donation at the site and appreciated the gift and free installation by AWH staff. The area is highly humid and AWH advised them to use it frequently so that the moisture is repelled by its operation heat and thus prevent damages.

LCPC Meeting at Barangay Sicat Hall

On March 28, 2016, a LCPC (Local Council for Protection of Children) meeting was held at the barangay hall of Sicat, Alfonso, Cavite. (A part of the construction cost and materials of the barangay hall were contributed by AWH.) Since LCPC’s aims include protection of women and children, AWH as a member of LCPC made an announcement that FriendlyCare now provides free hormonal implant as a contraceptive, instead of bilateral tubal ligation (BTL). FriendlyCare has been funded by UN Population Fund and previously provided free BTL. However, since UN replaced BTL method with hormonal implant, FriendlyCare follows the direction. Home for The 100th Sheep Graduation

On March 22, 2016, a DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) accredited foundation, Home for The 100th Sheep which operates and manages several pre-schools in Dasmarinas, Cavite with selected indigent children, held a graduation celebration at a courtyard in nearby vicinity. AWH vice president Casey Takayama visited the event and congratulated all the children graduating. For the continuous and dedicating support of indigent families including resettled street families from Manila, AWH made a monetary donation to Home for The 100th Sheep Foundation.

Coordinating Japan Heart for International Medical Assistance

During November 2015 through January 2016, AWH coordinated a non-profit & non-government organization called Japan Heart, which dispatches Japanese volunteer medical doctors and nurses to ASEAN countries, with governmental organizations in the Philippines in order to provide their medical assistance in case of national emergencies. AWH introduced Japan Heart to 4CDG-ARESCOM (4th Regional Community Defense Group, Army Reserve Command) and visited Colonel Pasqual at Camp Eldridge, Los Banos, Laguna. Indigent Support with Overseas Guests

In January 2016, nearly 50 overseas guests visited AWH for healing and to attend our 10th year anniversary event. During their stay they paid a visit to a camp of indigent residents in Usting, Luksuhin-Ibaba, Alfonso, Cavite with quality used clothes brought from Japan, sacks of rice and snacks for children. Later time another visitor donated sacks of rice when AWH brought them firewood for cooking balots (slightly grown duck eggs) on which they make their livelihood.
