Children’s Magical Hour

On December 5, 2023, Academy of World Healing Foundation (AWH) was invited to attend the Children’s Magical Hour event during Alfonso Day celebration at the covered Alfonso town plaza covered court.

Around 300 Day Care centers and Kindergarten pupils attended the colorful event.

Some children gave performances on the stage. 

The children enjoyed their meals from Jollibee (fast food chain in the Philippines).

During the event, a magician mesmerized the children with so many magical tricks. 

Rotary International Multinational Manila (RIMM) and AWH contributed assorted toys for the children’s games.

The children were excited with their new toys. 

Mayor Randy and Gina of Municipal Social and Welfare Development (MSWD) expressed their gratitude to AWH and RIMM. 

National Children’s Month Celebration

On November 24, 2023 Academy of World Healing Foundation (AWH) was invited to attend the 31st National Children’s Month celebration hosted by the Municipality of Alfonso at the covered basketball court at Alfonso town. 

The theme of the year was”Healthy, nourished, sheltered: Ensuring the right to life for all!”

More than 500 Day Care and Kindergarten pupils attended the event for the whole day. 

The children enjoyed fried chicken and spaghetti from Jollibee. 

During the event a clown performed all kinds of magic tricks to the children who were in awe seeing a white pigeon popping out of his hand.  

AWH contributed financial assistance for the event.

Raymund distributed assorted toys to the children who participated in fun games contributed by the Rotary International Multinational Manila. 

AWH is a member of the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC). 

Alfonso Mayor Randy and Gina of Municipal Social Welfare Development presented a Certificate of Appreciation to AWH and extended their gratitude to RIMM for the assorted toys during the event.

Helping The Needy

Gina, the head of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) in Alfonso, Cavite sought the assistance of the Academy of World Healing Foundation (AWH) for Loribel, a single mother of 2 young daughters for their basic needs residing in Luksuhin Ilaya, Alfonso.

On June 7, 2023 AWH along with Gina’s staff distributed rice, assorted canned goods, hygiene products, laundry products and noodles to the older daughter of Loribel who was left alone in their rented small house when we arrived. Loribel was at work at the Universal Rocks in Tagaytay. Loribel was with her youngest daughter there.

The youngest daughter of Loribel was raped by her father who is now in prison.

Gina’s staff called Loribel on her mobile phone and she thanked AWH for the assistance.

National Children’s Month

November is National Children’s Month and its 30th celebration in our municipality of Alfonso was conducted by the local DSWD (Department of Social Welfare Development) and LCPC (Local Council for Protection of Children). AWH (Academy of World Healing Foundation) board members as well as LCPC members, Casey Takayama and Raymund Balicha participated the event for barangay Mangas, Alfonso, Cavite on November 17, 2022, while the celebration events are being held in many other barangays in the municipality of Alfonso over several days.

The particular event for Mangas 1, Mangas 2 and Marahan 1 was attended by 150 public school pupils (Kindergarten and up to Grade 2).

During the program, “The Advocacy on Children’s Rights” was presented to the parents of the pupils by the LCPC child representatives.

Casey brought assorted candies and marshmallows chocolate bars that were tossed to the school children. DSWD and LCPC handed spaghetti, fried chicken and ice cream to the children.

The other batches of food distribution on the same day up to 1,050 children in other areas of Alfonso municipality were also funded by LCPC.

The National Children’s Month celebration will be held until November 26, 2022, wherein many activities have been lined up.

Local Council for The Protection of Children

A Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) meeting was held on March 7, 2022 at the Sangguniang Bayan Hall, Municipal Building, Alfonso, Cavite. It was the first meeting after 2 years of COVID-19 pandemic with the occasional strictest Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) declared since March 2020. 
The agenda covered the following:

  1. Presentation of LCPC plan for Children for 2022
  2. Updates on Activities for Children (Survival, Development, Protection and Participation)
  3. Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC)/LCPC Functionality Assessment to conduct this March 2022 

During the meeting Gina Vedan of DSWD relayed her gratitude to AWH for the donation of the double deck bed and bed foams for the Children In Conflict with the Law (CICL).
The CICL children are being taught skills such as sewing and welding among others while their cases are ongoing in the Court.

National Children’s Day 2021

As a member of the the Local Council for Protection of Children (LCPC), Academy of World Healing Foundation (AWH) represented by Raymund  Balicha attended the annual National Children’s Month celebration on November 29, 2021 at the covered basketball court in front of the Alfonso municipal hall.
The theme was “New normal na Walang Iwanan: Karapatan ng Bawat Bata Ating Tutukan!”. (Translation: “Unity under the New Normal. We must uphold the rights of every child!”.)
Alfonso LCPC invited selected local indigent children with their mothers for the gift giving of hygiene kits and Jollibee meals at the venue site.   

Mayor Randy Salamat also awarded the barangays who met the criteria as the most “Child Friendly Barangay and Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Responsiveness”.
The other following activities were also awarded:

  1. Educational assistance for selected indigent children with disabilities
  2. Kid Tiktok Dance Challenge, Draw and Tell, Poster Making and Slogan Contest

Since mas gathering of children under the pandemic is not allowed, LCPC members later distributed hygiene kits and Jollibee meals separately for the following barangays:

  • Amuyong
  • Kaysuyo
  • Pajo
  • Marahan 1
  • Luksuhin Ibaba
  • Sikat
  • Taywanak Ibaba
  • Poblacion 4
  • Poblacion 5

LCPC Meeting

On June 10, 2019, AWH attended the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) meeting at Mayor Varias office.

The following subjects were discussed:
– Evaluation of Parenting Seminar conducted at Public schools
– Evaluation of Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC)
Orientation Seminar
– Updates on Children Programs and Services

Parenting seminars will continue to be conducted in public Elementary and High Schools this new school year (begins in June in the Philippines) to help parents connect to their children in this generation.

While teenage pregnancy is still a big problem in the community LCPC will conduct Teenage Pregnancy forums in local high schools. They will also include Drug Awareness and HIV Awareness/Prevention during the seminar.

The event for Nutrition Month is scheduled on July 23, 2019

LCPC Meeting – 2018 November

Alfonso LCPC (Local Council for Protection of Children) meeting was held on November 12, 2018 at the Mayor’s office in the municipal building. Mayor Varias, Dr. Manzo from municipal health department and Gina from DSWD (Department of Social Welfare Development) as core members also attended the meeting.

Main subject was Children’s day event which is scheduled on Nov. 26 and Alfonso day event to be held Dec 13-15. Children’s day will be attended by 571 children consist of 500 selected grade 3-4 elementary school students and 71 handicapped children. Proposed gift for the children is hygiene kit which include tooth brush/paste, soap, rubbing alcohol, towel, etc.). AWH has decided to donate P15,000 to help this gift giving. P2,100 each will be given to those 71 handicapped children from another government entity.

Some indigents under 4 P’s (Pantawid Pamiliyang Pilipino Program) have been working on recyclable trash and DSWD has conducted a project to utilize them. Five among the 4 P’s who came up with good ideas to utilize recyclable trash will be awarded at Alfonso day event on Dec. 12. AWH committed to donate 5 sacks of rice for it.

Children’s Month Celebration

On November 29, 2017, being a member of LCPC (Local Council for Protection of Children) in Alfonso, Cavite, AWH staff attended Children’s Month Celebration at the Alfonso town plaza. The theme of the event was “Bata:” Iligtas sa Droga!” (Save our Children from Illegal Drugs).

The event was attended by 600 selected indigent elementary school children from Grade 1 to 4. They received a hygiene kit containing toothbrush, toothpaste, rubbing alcohol, antiseptic cologne, cotton ear bud, 2 pieces of soaps and towel. Their teachers will teach them how to use the items properly to maintain basic hygiene.

AWH, RIMM (Rotary International Multinational Manila) and RIMM president Betty Vicedo made financial contributions for the said hygiene kit while Sunny Enterprises donated 500 pieces of small natural coconut soaps. Gina of DSWD and the wife of Mayor Varias were appreciative for our kind donations. We received plaques of appreciation from the Municipality.

At the end of the event the Municipality of Alfonso treated all of the children with snacks from Jollibee and they enjoyed the entertainment from the Jollibee mascot.

Training Workshop of Expanded Local Health Board of Alfonso

On November 8, 2017, AWH general manager Raymund Balicha, who has been newly designated as one of the Expanded Local Health Board (LHB), attended a Training Workshop on Municipal Health System Strengthening Program (MHSSP) at Verdiview in Luksuhin Ilaya, Alfonso, Cavite. LHB largely consists of the members of Local Council for Protection of Children.
The seminar aims to improve the health system in Alfonso. Mayor Varias spoke in the workshop that there is a need to improve many health issues & wants to advocate health education & discipline.
